It is not a tax product
We compute cost basis and realised profit, and we do it carefully. What we do not do is produce a downloadable, jurisdiction-specific tax report you can hand to an accountant or upload to a filing service.
We also support two accounting methods, FIFO and average cost, and not the others some jurisdictions require.
- No HIFO or specific-identification accounting.
- No UK share-pooling rules.
- No per-wallet depot accounting.
- No tax-loss harvesting suggestions.
If filing is the job, a dedicated tax tool will serve you better, and we would rather say so here than have you find out in April.
Live DeFi positions and NFTs
Income events from staking and lending are captured, so rewards land in your history and are valued on the day they arrived. What is not captured is the live state of a position: the current value of a liquidity-pool stake, its yield, or its impermanent loss.
NFT support is minimal. If a meaningful share of your portfolio is in NFTs, your total here will not reflect it.
We also do not model debt or borrowing at all. Borrowed positions and the obligations against them are invisible to us, which is honest as long as we never imply otherwise.
How far back each exchange lets anyone go
This limit is not ours, but it is still a limit, and it is the one most likely to affect you. 9 of the 11 exchanges we support return full history with no API window. These two do not:
| Exchange | How far back its API goes |
|---|---|
| MEXC | About 30 days of trades and 90 days of transfers. Older history is not retrievable by anyone, us included. |
| HTX | About 120 days of fills and 12 months of transfers. Older history is not retrievable by anyone, us included. |
No tracker can reconstruct what the exchange will not serve. If someone tells you otherwise, ask them which endpoint they are reading.
Reconstruction edge cases
Two cases where our reconstruction is still imperfect, stated plainly:
- If the same address sits on both sides of a swap, we can misread which direction the flip went.
- A decentralised-exchange swap routed through more than two legs is harder to reconstruct, and some are synthesised rather than read directly.
Both show up as movements you can see and correct, rather than as a silently wrong total.
No mobile app
The web app works on a phone, but there is no native iOS or Android app, and no offline mode.
Why this page exists
A product page that lists only strengths is one you should read sceptically, because every tool has a shape and the shape is defined by what it leaves out.
If you find something on this page that is not a choice we made but a number that is simply wrong, that is a bug and we want to hear about it: support@whereitgoes.money.
