What is WhereItGoes?
WhereItGoes is a read-only crypto portfolio tracker. It connects to 11 exchanges and 52 chains, rebuilds your full transaction history automatically, and shows your net worth, profit and loss, and a map of where your money actually went. It is not a wallet or an exchange: it never holds your funds and cannot move them.
The method behind every number is published: how WhereItGoes works.
Is it free?
Yes, and the free tier is not a trial. Free caps how many accounts you connect, currently 2 exchanges and 5 wallets, and one account per exchange. It never caps what you see: no transaction limits, no history cut off, and the full visual story for every account you connect. Pro adds live auto-syncing, the advisor layer, exports, alerts, and unlimited accounts.
The line-by-line version is on the pricing page, and if you are weighing free tiers generally, we wrote up what each free tracker withholds including ours.
Which exchanges and blockchains does it support?
11 exchanges: Binance, OKX, KuCoin, Gate.io, Bybit, Coinbase, Kraken, Bitget, Upbit, MEXC and HTX. Plus 52 chains by public address: 34 EVM chains, plus Bitcoin, Solana, XRP Ledger, Dogecoin, Cardano, Tron, Bitcoin Cash, Hedera, TON, Polkadot, Litecoin, Stellar, Sui, Aptos, NEAR, Starknet, Constellation and Provenance.
The full list, with what each connection can and cannot read, is on supported exchanges and chains.
Do I have to import CSV files?
No. You connect a read-only API key or paste a public wallet address, and the history is reconstructed for you. CSV import exists on Pro for filling gaps, but it is not how you get started.
What happens after you connect: how your history is rebuilt.
How far back can it rebuild my history?
As far back as the exchange will serve it, which is the real ceiling for any tracker. Nine of the eleven exchanges we support return full history with no API window. MEXC caps at roughly 30 days of trades and 90 days of transfers, and HTX at roughly 120 days of fills and 12 months of transfers. Those limits are the venue, not us, and no tool can get around them.
The mechanics are in rebuilding history, and the per-venue ceilings are listed with the rest of what we cannot do in known limits.
Does it do crypto tax reports?
No. WhereItGoes computes cost basis and realised profit with FIFO, and shows average cost on asset pages, but it does not produce downloadable, jurisdiction-specific tax reports, and it does not support HIFO, specific identification or UK pooling. If filing is your main goal, a dedicated tax tool is the better choice.
What we do compute is set out in cost basis and profit. If you need the filing itself, read Koinly or CoinTracker instead of us.
Can it move, trade or withdraw my funds?
No. Exchange connections use read-only API keys with no trade or withdraw permission, and wallets are read by public address only. There is no field to enter a seed phrase or private key, and no code path that could send a transaction.
The longer answer, including how a key is stored once you give us one: security and your keys and your data.
How is it different from a tax tool?
A tax tool exists to produce a filing at year end. WhereItGoes exists to show you where your money went and what it is doing, continuously, and to make the underlying history trustworthy: matching transfers between your own accounts, filtering scam airdrops, and refusing to invent a cost basis it does not know. The visual story is the point, not a by-product.
Both of those are documented rather than asserted: how a transfer is told apart from a sale and how scam tokens are filtered.
Does it track DeFi positions and NFTs?
Only partly. Income events from staking and lending are captured, but live positions in liquidity pools with their current value and yield are not, and NFT tracking is minimal. If those are central to your portfolio, it will not give you a complete picture today.
This is stated plainly in known limits, the valuation rules that do apply are in how we price tokens, and for a purely on-chain portfolio Zerion is the better view.
Do I need to give any identity documents?
No. There is no identity verification and no sign-up form. You sign in with a wallet or a Google account.
What we do and do not store is listed in your keys and your data.
